Industrial X-ray inspection systems

X-Ray technology

James Fisher NDT (JF NDT) is the UK partner for VJ Technologies X-ray equipment and systems for industrial applications in NDT, quality control, inspection and fault detection.

A wide variety of standard and customised systems are offered to suit the requirements of the aerospace, automotive, munitions, oil and gas, process, food and nuclear industries. Whether the system is supplied built into a shielded cabinet or is installed in a shielded enclosure or room, it will be designed with radiation safety in mind and will be installed with appropriate safety interlocks to ensure safe operation. JF NDT can assess an existing shielded facility for suitability or design new shielding and back the installation up with verification and testing.

The heart of the inspection system is a comprehensive image processing software which manages the entire inspection process from image capture through viewing to record keeping and archive. With 16-bit image capture and storage, image enhancement tools, electronic mark-ups of images and optional automatic defect recognition algorithms, the system has the capability to fully support any industrial requirement. This software can interface with a wide range of X-ray generators and detectors enabling a wide variety of standard and bespoke systems to meet a particular inspection requirement.

JF NDT supplies the IXS series of high voltage integrated X-ray generators and offers a comprehensive service and support packages to ensure that the system installation and maintenance meets the demanding requirements of industrial usage.

ADE enhances low contrast structures across attenuation gradients due to different thicknesses or materials. In a single pass, the enhanced image shows virtually all defect structures, eliminating the need for manual contrast and brightness adjustments. Costs are reduced due to shorter inspection durations and increased consistency in operator decision-making. Inspection quality is greatly enhanced due to improved visibility.
